In the final MY 2009/10 of the implementation of the sugar reform, EU sugar production is forecast to increase almost 2 million MT as a result of record beet sugar yields.  This will put EU processors before a dilemma as EU sugar exports are limited by its WTO export commitment limit and conversion to ethanol is expected to be uneconomical as a result of high world prices for sugar and low EU domestic cereal prices.
